My Father Cigar Memorializes Fallen FirefightersSeptember 28, 2011. In honor of the three-hundred and forty-three firefighters tragically killed at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, Jaime Garcia has teamed with Casa de Montecristo of Chicago to release a special cigar. The My Father Commemorative 911 is actually two distinct cigars packaged in a box of 20. Nine cigars will be Ecuadorian Habano Rosado leaf wrapped around a '96 Corojo binder while the other 11 cigars in each box will feature a Nicaraguan 'Oscuro Oscuro' wrapper. The 'Oscuro Oscuro' wrapper was previously used on Garcia's successful Le Bijou 1922 line of cigars. The new Commemorative 911 has been described as a cross between the My Father le Bijou and the 2011 Limited Edition blend. The cigar will come in only one size, a toro measuring 5.5 inches with a ring gauge of 54. Limited to only 343 boxes, the number of firefighter victims, each box sells for $199.95 with $40 of the price being donated to charity for the families of the fallen firefighters. The idea for the limited commemorative cigar came from Jeffery Holst, a Battalion Chief from Firehouse No.1 in Lombard, Illinois. Garcia has told Casa de Montecristo that the cigars will arrive at the lounge on September 27. Boxes can be pre-ordered at 911cigars.com. |
